To seal the torch head in the transition to the gas nozzle. In principle, the adapter is an insulator with extra function. This consists of being able to apply larger wear parts to a smaller burner head. It therefore carries the heavier wear parts and at the same time acts as an insulator. And because it is made of plastic, it also seals better - which in turn makes the burner run more reliably.
